Open Access Policy

Journal of Business Innovation and Accounting Research (JBIAR)
The Journal of Business Innovation and Accounting Research (JBIAR) is an open-access scholarly journal committed to the immediate, worldwide, and equitable dissemination of peer-reviewed research.
JBIAR provides unrestricted online access to its published scholarly content without subscription fees, registration requirements, or other access barriers for readers.
The journal supports the principle that research should be accessible to the global academic community and the wider public while respecting copyright, proper attribution, research integrity, and the conditions of the applicable open-access license.
1. Immediate Open Access
All peer-reviewed articles published by JBIAR are made freely and immediately accessible online upon publication.
JBIAR does not apply an embargo period to published articles.
Readers are not required to pay subscription or access fees to:
-
read articles;
-
download full-text articles;
-
search journal content;
-
link to published articles;
-
cite published work; or
-
access publicly available journal metadata.
Access to published scholarly content is therefore independent of institutional subscription or individual payment.
JBIAR supports the principles of open scholarly communication reflected in the Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI) while applying its own journal-specific copyright and licensing policies.
2. Open-Access License
Articles published in JBIAR are made available under the:
Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International License
CC BY-NC-SA 4.0
Under this license, users may share and adapt published material for non-commercial purposes, provided that:
-
appropriate credit is given to the author(s);
-
the original publication in JBIAR is appropriately acknowledged and cited;
-
a link to the applicable Creative Commons license is provided;
-
users indicate whether changes were made;
-
the material is not used primarily for commercial purposes; and
-
adaptations are distributed under the same or a compatible license as required by CC BY-NC-SA 4.0.
The license applies unless a published item explicitly states otherwise because of legitimate third-party copyright restrictions.
License information should be displayed clearly on individual article pages and, where technically possible, included in article metadata and published files.
Official license information:
Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International (CC BY-NC-SA 4.0)
https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0/
3. Copyright Ownership
Authors retain copyright.
Authors publishing in JBIAR retain copyright in their scholarly work without unnecessary transfer of ownership to the journal or publisher.
Authors also retain their publishing and reuse rights subject to the terms of the license applied to the published article.
By publishing with JBIAR, authors grant the journal the non-exclusive right to:
-
publish the article;
-
identify JBIAR as the venue of first publication;
-
disseminate the article and its metadata;
-
register and maintain bibliographic and persistent identifier metadata;
-
preserve the published scholarly record; and
-
distribute the article in accordance with the applicable Creative Commons license.
The journal and publisher do not acquire exclusive ownership of an author's scholarly work merely because the article is published in JBIAR.
Authors remain responsible for ensuring that third-party copyrighted material included in their manuscripts is used with appropriate permission or under an applicable legal exception or license.
4. Author Rights
Authors may reuse their published work in accordance with the applicable CC BY-NC-SA 4.0 license and may use their articles for legitimate scholarly and educational purposes.
Authors may, for example:
-
include the work in a thesis or dissertation;
-
use the work for teaching and academic presentations;
-
distribute copies for non-commercial scholarly purposes;
-
incorporate portions into subsequent scholarly work with appropriate citation;
-
deposit permitted versions in repositories;
-
maintain copies on institutional or personal academic websites; and
-
share links to the official published version.
Whenever the published Version of Record is redistributed, authors should provide the complete citation and DOI or official JBIAR article URL where available.
5. Repository and Self-Archiving Policy
JBIAR supports author self-archiving and encourages responsible dissemination of scholarly work.
Authors may deposit appropriate versions of their manuscripts in:
-
institutional repositories;
-
subject-based repositories;
-
university repositories;
-
research funder repositories;
-
recognized non-commercial scholarly repositories; and
-
personal or institutional academic websites.
Submitted Version / Preprint
Authors may deposit the version submitted before peer review, provided that doing so does not violate another contractual, ethical, confidentiality, or legal obligation.
Accepted Manuscript
Authors may deposit their accepted manuscript following completion of peer review, subject to acknowledgment of its subsequent publication in JBIAR.
Published Version / Version of Record
Authors may deposit or share the published Version of Record for non-commercial purposes in accordance with the CC BY-NC-SA 4.0 license.
Where possible, the repository record should include:
-
full article title;
-
author names;
-
journal title;
-
volume and issue;
-
publication year;
-
page range or article identifier;
-
DOI;
-
applicable Creative Commons license; and
-
a link to the official JBIAR publication.
Embargo
JBIAR applies no mandatory embargo period to self-archiving of the published Version of Record where redistribution complies with the applicable license.
6. Machine-Readable Open-Access Licensing
JBIAR is committed to making copyright and license information understandable not only to readers but also, where technically supported, to indexing services, repositories, search engines, discovery systems, and scholarly infrastructures.
The journal therefore seeks to provide license information in machine-readable metadata in addition to human-readable statements.
Where supported by OJS and relevant metadata services, article records should include:
-
the applicable Creative Commons license name;
-
the standardized license URL;
-
copyright holder information;
-
publication date;
-
DOI or other persistent identifier;
-
open-access status; and
-
relevant reuse information.
The standardized license URI used for JBIAR articles is:
https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0/
License information should be consistent across:
-
the JBIAR website;
-
individual article landing pages;
-
article PDF/XML files where technically possible;
-
OJS metadata;
-
DOI metadata;
-
repository metadata; and
-
metadata supplied to indexing and discovery services.
JBIAR seeks to avoid contradictory licensing statements across different versions of the same article.
7. Metadata Accessibility
JBIAR recognizes metadata as an important part of open scholarly communication.
Bibliographic metadata for published articles should remain publicly accessible to facilitate:
-
citation;
-
indexing;
-
discovery;
-
repository harvesting;
-
reference linking;
-
interoperability; and
-
scholarly information retrieval.
Article metadata should include, where applicable:
-
author names;
-
institutional affiliations;
-
article title;
-
abstract;
-
keywords;
-
publication date;
-
volume and issue;
-
page range or article number;
-
DOI;
-
references;
-
copyright information; and
-
license information.
The journal seeks to maintain accurate and interoperable metadata and to correct material metadata errors when identified.
8. Digital Preservation and Long-Term Access Policy
JBIAR recognizes that open access requires not only immediate availability but also the long-term preservation of the scholarly record.
The journal therefore maintains a digital preservation policy designed to protect published articles and associated metadata against accidental loss, technological failure, website migration, or discontinuation of journal operations.
Current Preservation Measures
JBIAR maintains its published articles, issues, and bibliographic metadata through its Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform.
The journal and publisher should maintain appropriate technical backups of:
-
the OJS database;
-
published PDF/XML and other article files;
-
journal metadata;
-
journal configuration data; and
-
essential publishing records.
Backups should be maintained separately from the production environment whenever technically feasible.
External Long-Term Preservation
JBIAR is committed to participating in a recognized external digital preservation service compatible with its publishing platform, such as the PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN), LOCKSS, CLOCKSS, Portico, or another recognized preservation infrastructure, where eligibility and technical requirements are satisfied.
The journal will identify a specific preservation service on this page only after participation has been activated and verified.
JBIAR will not make misleading claims of inclusion in an external preservation network before successful registration or deposit has been confirmed.
Once a verified external preservation arrangement is active, this section should be updated to identify:
-
the preservation service;
-
the preservation status;
-
the scope of preserved content; and
-
where appropriate, a publicly verifiable preservation record.
9. Continuity of Access
If JBIAR changes its website, hosting infrastructure, publisher platform, or journal management system, reasonable steps will be taken to preserve:
-
previously published articles;
-
DOI resolution;
-
article URLs or redirects where feasible;
-
bibliographic metadata;
-
issue archives;
-
copyright and licensing information; and
-
correction, retraction, and other post-publication records.
If the journal permanently ceases publication, JBIAR and its publisher will make reasonable efforts to ensure continued access to the published scholarly record through an established preservation or archival mechanism.
10. Permanent Identifiers and Scholarly Record
JBIAR supports the use of persistent identifiers such as Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs) for published scholarly content where assigned.
DOIs and associated metadata should be maintained so that articles remain discoverable even if the journal's technical infrastructure or URLs change.
Material post-publication changes should be handled transparently through appropriate corrections, retractions, Expressions of Concern, or metadata updates rather than by silently removing or replacing the scholarly record.
11. Reader Access and Reuse
Readers may access JBIAR content freely without subscription fees.
Reuse of published content must comply with:
-
CC BY-NC-SA 4.0;
-
applicable copyright law;
-
third-party rights;
-
academic attribution requirements; and
-
research and publication ethics.
Open access does not remove the obligation to properly cite the authors and the original publication.
12. Article Processing Charges and Open Access
Open access for readers is separate from any Article Processing Charge that may apply to authors.
Any applicable publication charge is stated separately on the JBIAR Article Processing Charge (APC) page.
Payment of an APC:
-
does not purchase acceptance;
-
does not influence reviewer recommendations;
-
does not influence editorial decisions; and
-
does not alter the journal's peer-review standards.
All accepted articles receive the same open-access treatment regardless of the authors' institution, nationality, or source of funding.
13. Publisher and Responsibility
Journal: Journal of Business Innovation and Accounting Research (JBIAR)
E-ISSN: 3031-6618
Publisher: PT. Batari Edu Calya
Country: Indonesia
The publisher supports the journal's open-access infrastructure while editorial decisions remain independent of commercial considerations.
14. Policy Transparency
JBIAR is committed to keeping its Open Access, Copyright, Licensing, Self-Archiving, and Digital Preservation policies publicly accessible and internally consistent.
Material changes to these policies should be reflected transparently on the journal website.
The journal may revise this policy when necessary to reflect developments in:
-
open-access standards;
-
Creative Commons licensing;
-
repository practices;
-
metadata standards;
-
digital preservation infrastructure;
-
indexing requirements; and
-
recognized scholarly publishing best practices.
Open Access Statement
JBIAR provides immediate open access to its published scholarly content. Authors retain copyright, and articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC-SA 4.0). JBIAR permits responsible self-archiving and supports machine-readable licensing, interoperable metadata, and long-term digital preservation of the scholarly record.
